A few weeks ago my friend, Mark asked me if I would caddy for him at the BMW Championship ProAm that had to be played at Cog Hill. it sounded like fun, plus I would get the chance to watch both Tour professionals and amateurs, side by side in a tournament situation. The differences were very clear and it had nothing to do with talent and everything to do with routine.
The tour professionals had a separate routine of the driving range and putting green during warm-up to play their round of golf.Unfortunately, the amateurs (with the exception of Mark) approached everything they did in a random way. our professional tour, Ben Crane (which was a very nice person) did everything in the same way for each shot including the number of times that he would be the wobble of the club. By following the same routine tour players were able to set a comfortable and familiar pace to their game that allows them to perform better in pressure situations. On the other hand, without a routine had the amateurs tend to rush in pressure situations that ended with poor results.
Like everything else takes to develop a conscience effort and practice routine.Devote to improve your game, a few practice sessions and rounds to develop your own routine. it is worth it.
